My Story

Before I understood the right balance of movement and nutrition for my body, I was hitting my head against the wall. I was the one who was super motivated to start a new exercise program. I would do high-impact workouts and have all the energy in the world for the first few weeks but drop out down the road because of it being too much for the body, getting stiff, lack of energy, taking too much time, it was inconvenient or just being impatient with the results. I was not able to build a sustainable fitness foundation for myself, I felt like a loser. I was beating myself down and got involved into self-sabotaging mind chatter - “You are failing again, you are not doing enough, you are not strong enough, you will never get better”. I was so tired of relapses and going in circles. This was draining my energy not only physically but even more emotionally and mentally. Here I was with stiff body that wanted to move but too tired and disappointed where I had end up with myself. I felt I was not enjoying even the things I used to. I was tired of being like this - I was tired of failing.

I am Veera and I am a Master Personal Trainer, Yoga Teacher and Functional Nutritionist. I live to move my body (both physically and geographically) and to eat quality nutritious food. I am inspired by the art of movement and by the nourishment of the body. There are just tons of different ways to move and take care our unique bodies.

I am originally from small town called Valkeala, Finland. I used to play competitive volleyball before becoming a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor in 2013. I have tried several different exercise formats and taught a full variety of them including Yoga, Pilates, HIIT, Cycling, Boot Camp, Abs, Zumba and TRX. I have learned along the way that finding the right kind of exercise for your body at this moment of life is crucial. The body changes, the mind changes, the life stressors change, so should the exercise regimen.

I was beating myself down and got involved into self-sabotaging mind chatter - “You are failing again, you are not doing enough, you are not strong enough, you will never get out of this cycle”. I was so tired of relapses and going in circles. This was draining my energy not only physically but even more emotionally. Here I was with stiff body that wanted to move but too tired and disappointed where I had end up with myself. I felt I was not enjoying even the things I used to. I was tired of being like this - I was tired of failing.
I never thought yoga would be a game changer for my fitness. It wasn’t until my late 20s when I realized that it is okay to do other formats of exercise than running and lifting, it is okay not break a sweat in a workout, it is okay to take more days off. This was so foreign to me but my body and mind liked it. This was exactly what I needed. I started to see results and changes in my body after incorporating stretching and mobility into my workout regimen.
Master studies in kinesiology, several fitness certifications and trainings helped me to understand the body systems and anatomy even more. I learned more in-depth about Functional Training and Yoga which totally shifted my perspective on exercise and overall well-being. Biggest take-away was that I learned how to breathe correctly not only when exercising but most of all when different situations in life happened and emotions came up. I listened to my mentors and coaches and saw a common theme in all of them - they were so mindful and tuned with their bodies. As a result, I started prioritizing my health - the first wealth is the health.

Using quality over quantity tactic did the trick in both exercising and nutrition. Now, I workout less and eat better. I have increased energy throughout the day and no more waking up with a back pain or hamstring stiffness. I eat more nutrient dense foods and try to choose foods my body agrees with. I am much happier and more balanced. Consistency of choosing better for your health leads to habits. Those habits create actions we take everyday. Action leads to success.

I believe that one’s quality of life is strongly correlated to their health. With a healthy body and mind anything is possible. I want you to be able to move freely without any aches and pains. I want you to move and exercise the best way for you, feel energized and confident in your skin. I want you to love yourself here and now. I want to empower you to take care of yourself and embrace your life.
